UpCycle Biotech is not only advising on innovation — its is also about actively building it.
There are three exciting innovation projects underway, developed in close collaboration with our industry and academic partners. These ideas are shaped by real challenges observed across biotech, food, feed, and life sciences R&D.
Three projects. Three persistent problems. One shared goal: better innovation.
- Smarter NPD for science-driven teams
Alongside existing, well-established new product development (NPD) methodologies tailored for startups and academia, we are making strong progress toward a new AI-assisted, software-based NPD system. Built with input from researchers, industry practitioners, and software developers, the goal is to help science-driven teams move from ideas to structured, decision-ready product concepts — faster and with fewer blind spots.
Beta version planned for release in 2026.
2. Bioactive peptides, unlocked
This project focuses on building a comprehensive bio-active peptide discovery platform, combining one of the most complete peptide databases with advanced AI-assisted analysis tools. Developed in close collaboration with domain experts, the platform structures and analyses scientific knowledge to make peptide identification, comparison, and early discovery faster, clearer, and more actionable. The tool enables optimization of hydrolysis processes to selectively enhance the generation of bio-active peptides according to defined functional targets.
Beta version planned for release in 2026.
3. Turning side streams into value
This is an early-stage technology startup focused on developing new protein processing technologies to upcycle side streams and co-products into better proteins for food and feed. The technology is currently being developed at laboratory scale, with the next objective being to explore practical and scalable routes to unlock underused protein resources. In 2026, the focus will move toward first prototype construction, strategy development, and early-stage investor engagement.
What’s next
These projects are our way of addressing recurring gaps we see across the ecosystem — by building, testing, and learning alongside our partners.
